Industrial Chemicals — representative imagery

In brief

We trade the base inorganics and commodity organics that water treatment, food and beverage, textiles, detergents, metal finishing, mining, oil and gas and general manufacturing run on: caustic soda as flake, pearl or lye, light and dense soda ash, sulphuric and hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite, methanol, calcium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. Every line is quoted on a written specification — assay, the principal impurities and, where it applies, the grade standard the buyer works to.

Supply comes from producers and licensed distributors. Each consignment travels with a batch certificate of analysis, and independent sampling and analysis at the loading point can be arranged on request (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or the buyer's own surveyor). The current GHS safety data sheet goes out with the offer, not after the order, so storage, material compatibility and licensing can be checked before anyone commits. Several of these chemicals are controlled imports in Indonesia and other Asian markets, which is why the buyer's import authorisation is confirmed at the same stage.

Dangerous goods are booked under the correct proper shipping name, UN number, class and packing group, in UN-approved packaging still inside its certification period. Sea legs are declared under the IMDG Code and road legs under ADR or the national equivalent, with segregation, placards and emergency information to match. ISO tanks, IBCs, drums and bags are each quoted with their own lead time, because it is often packaging, not product, that fixes the sailing date.

Grades, typical analyses and pack formats

Typical figures, published so a buyer can check the fit before getting in touch. The binding values and tolerances are the ones written into our offer.

01

Caustic Soda — Flake, Pearl and Lye

Sodium hydroxide in solid and solution form. For sensitive processes it is the carbonate and chloride levels, more than the assay, that decide whether a grade will serve.

Packaging

  • 25 kg PP woven bags with PE liner
  • 1,000 kg jumbo bags (FIBC)
  • 250 kg HDPE drums and 1,000 L UN IBCs for lye
  • ISO tank for lye

ImpuritiesNa₂CO₃ 0.5% max; NaCl 0.05% max; Fe₂O₃ 0.01% max, typical flake specification
Transport classificationUN 1823, Class 8, PG II (solid); UN 1824, Class 8, PG II (solution)
HandlingHygroscopic, and strongly exothermic on dissolution; 50% lye crystallises below roughly 12 °C and needs insulated or heated tanks in cold transit
HS Code2815.11 (solid); 2815.12 (in aqueous solution)

02

Soda Ash — Light and Dense

Sodium carbonate in light and dense grades — dense where bulk handling and glass batching matter, light where the material needs to dissolve quickly.

  • Bulk-in-container with liner
Typical specification
AssayNa₂CO₃ 99.2% min

Transport classificationNot classified as dangerous goods for transport; an irritant, handled to its GHS precautions
HS Code2836.20

03

Sulphuric Acid 98%

Technical-grade sulphuric acid in tank and drum lots, quoted with the iron and residue limits that downstream users actually care about.

Packaging

  • 35 kg and 250 kg HDPE drums

04

Hydrochloric Acid 31–33%

Synthetic hydrochloric acid for pickling, resin regeneration and water treatment, delivered in lined tanks, IBCs and drums.

Packaging

  • 35 kg and 250 kg HDPE drums
  • 1,000 L UN-approved IBCs
  • Rubber-lined ISO tank and road tanker
Typical specification

Transport classificationUN 1789, Class 8, PG II
HandlingFumes at ambient temperature; stored in rubber-lined or FRP vessels with scrubbed venting, away from oxidisers and cyanides
HS Code2806.10

05

Hydrogen Peroxide and Sodium Hypochlorite

Stabilised hydrogen peroxide at 35% and 50%, and sodium hypochlorite at 10–12% available chlorine. Both lose strength in storage, and heat speeds the loss, so the shipping window is part of the specification.

Packaging

  • 30 kg and 60 kg vented HDPE drums
  • 250 kg vented HDPE drums
  • 1,000 L UN-approved vented IBCs
  • ISO tank for hydrogen peroxide
Typical specification
Hydrogen peroxide35% and 50% w/w, stabilised; UN 2014, Class 5.1 with subsidiary risk 8, PG II
Sodium hypochlorite10–12% available chlorine at production; UN 1791, Class 8, PG II or III by concentration
StabilityHypochlorite loses available chlorine with temperature, light and pH drift; a shipment window and a re-analysis point on arrival are written into the contract
Materials and handlingHDPE with vented closures, and passivated aluminium for peroxide only; never confine, never return decanted material to the container
HS Code2847.00 (hydrogen peroxide); 2828.90 (sodium hypochlorite)

Shipping & paperwork

How the cargo is packed, priced and documented

Packaging & stowage

  • Dangerous goods travel only in UN-approved packaging within its certification period. Drums, jerricans and IBCs bear the UN packaging code and are filled within the permitted ratio, leaving the correct headspace.
  • Hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite require vented closures. Both give off gas in storage and are never shipped in sealed, unvented packs.
  • Flexitanks are never used for dangerous goods. Liquid DG ships in ISO tanks, UN IBCs or UN drums, and tank containers are offered with their last-cargo record and cleaning certificate.
  • GHS supply labels and IMDG or ADR transport labels are both applied — one never stands in for the other.
  • Hygroscopic solids go in PE-lined or laminated bags with desiccant for humid voyages, palletised and stretch-wrapped on ISPM 15 timber.

Incoterms we use

  • FOB — containers and tank containers loaded at the named port, with the DG booking and declaration lodged before cut-off.
  • CFR — the common basis for drummed and IBC cargo into Indonesian and wider Asian ports.
  • CIF — CFR plus marine cover; carriers' DG surcharges and acceptance limits can change both routing and transit time.
  • FCA — handover at a named terminal or licensed DG warehouse for buyers using their own freight.
  • DAP — delivery to a licensed chemical store, where the buyer holds the storage permits for the hazard class.
  • DDP — offered sparingly, because DG import clearance depends on local licences that must genuinely be open to us.

Documents supplied

  • Commercial invoice and packing list giving proper shipping name, UN number, class, packing group and net quantity per package
  • GHS safety data sheet in the language the destination requires, Bahasa Indonesia included
  • Batch certificate of analysis stating the analytical method for each parameter
  • Dangerous goods declaration and container packing certificate for sea shipments
  • Bill of lading carrying the DG particulars, or air waybill with the IATA DGR declaration
  • Certificate of origin, including ATIGA Form D where ASEAN preference is claimed, legalised where required
  • Tank cleaning certificate and last-cargo record for bulk liquids
  • Independent inspection report on sampling, sealing and quantity at the loading point
